Vanished Jewish schools

In 1941, all Jewish students in Amsterdam were taken out of class and housed in separate Jewish schools, where they were taught by Jewish teachers. In 1943 all these Jewish schools had already disappeared and the pupils and teachers were meanwhile arrested and 'transported' or in hiding.

Commissioned by Aart Janszen, the authority in the field of the de-jewification of education during WWII, we came up with the concept for the memorial tile and we also designed everything related to the project.

The project is subsidised by The Jewish Annual Lease Fund.

The tiles are made by the Koninklijke Tichelaar in Makkum.

In the course of 2021, all Jewish schools in Amsterdam will receive such a memorial tile.
