DIY Klarenstraat

Amsterdam West is full of dilapidated porch flats from the 1950s. Renovation is expensive, so demolition / new construction is often chosen. As an experiment, in Klarenstraat it was decided to sell and renew by a group of private owners.

The bilingual book deals with all aspects of the transformation from a dilapidated building to an innovative apartment complex: architectural, social, financial, project-technical and planning.

The photography is by Rufus de Vries, who recorded the entire process.

Awarded by the jury of the Deutsches Architekturmuseum with the DAM BOOK AWARD
